Fulton Mackay was born on August 12, 1922 in Paisley, Scotland. He was an actor and writer, known for Local Hero (1983), Defense of the Realm (1985) and Doing Time (1979).
He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of authoritarian prison warder Mr Mackay in the BBC sitcom Porridge (1973-1977). He was married to Sheila Manahan.
